THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON BEST!!!

Hampir berhabuk blog aku, selepas 10 hari baru nak update. Aku masih bernyawa alhamdullilah syukur lepas hidup beristeri ini, keadaan menjadi lebih tenang dan tidak perlu gusar. Selesai sudah salah satu tanggungjawab kita sebagai Khalifah di muka bumi ini. Lupakan isu Alvin Tan dan mereka yang tersontot dek status Alvin Tan tempoh hari.

Aku nak cerita yang aku dua hari lepas pergi tengok The Avengers. Punya lah susah nak dapatkan tiket wayang, last-last dapat couple seat sabtu tengah hari haritu. Excited sungguh nak tengok ironman dan superhero yang lain, sanggup keluar duit RM37 untuk tiket sahaja.

Selesai menonton filem tersebut, aku dan isteri berdiskusi on bagaimana geng-geng pengusaha panggung wayang ni buat duit. Macam cerita The Avengers ni, Mesra Mall terpaksa open panggung pada khamis malam jumaat haritu. Kira first time la sejak kemunculan TGV di Mesra Mall Kerteh. Aku rasa lepas ni tak da dah, on air selepas solat jumaat. Apabila adanya panggung wayang, akan wujudnya masalah sosial. Padahal masalah sosial ni kat mana-mana ada, ada ke tidak panggung wayang langsung tak mempengaruhi masalah sosial. Takkan la orang nak buat maksiat terpaksa bayar rm37 untuk 2 jam (harga tiket untuk 2 orang), mestilah diorang nak cari tempat yang murah dan boleh lepak lama.

Berbalik kepada cerita tadi, macam mana TGV buat duit? Seperti apa yang isteri aku cakap, setiap movie ni diorang akan jual pita tu pada TGV, GSC dan sesiapa sahaja untuk di on air kan. Harga bergantung kepada penjual untuk jual movie tu berapa ringgit. Selepas pengusaha tu dapat filem tu, mereka akan tetapkan berapa jumlah siaran yang mereka nak. Kalau cerita tu dijangkakan meletop, for sure diorang akan open jadual tayangan tu banyak sesi. Lebih banyak sesi, lebih ramai orang yang akan tengok. Lagi ramai orang tengok, lagi banyak kutipan mereka akan dapat.

So you walk up to the box office and drop down your $10 to buy your ticket. Who gets that money? A lot of people assume (as did I at one point) that the movie theater keeps 50% of it, and the rest goes off to the studios. That’s not really true.Most of the money that a theatre takes in from ticket sales goes back to the movie studio. The studio leases a movie to your local theater for a set period of time. In the first couple of weeks the film shows in the theatre, the theatre itself only gets to keep about 20% – 25% of the green. That means, if you showed up to watch Bridget Jones’ Diary on opening night, then of the $12 you put out for a ticket, the movie theatre only got to keep between $2.40 and $3.00 of it.

Now, as you move into the second and third weeks of release, the percentage starts to swing to anywhere from 45% – 55% that the theatre gets to keep. It gets better after the fourth week when theatres generally can keep up to 80% or better of the ticket sales. There is an obvious inherent problem with this arrangement. I don’t know about you, but when I finally get around to seeing a film that’s already been in the theatres for 4 or 5 weeks, I’m usually one of the only people in the place. It doesn’t do the establishment a lot of good to keep 80% of the ticket sales when only 14 tickets are sold per show. And with more and more and more movies getting released every week, the length of time that a movie stays in theaters is shrinking. Bad news for the movie theaters.
